How much does Etsy take per sale?
For US sellers: a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping, 3% + $0.25 payment processing on the order total, and a $0.20 listing fee. That's roughly 10–12% of a typical order. If the sale came through Offsite Ads, add another 12–15%.
What are Etsy Offsite Ads fees?
When Etsy's own advertising brings the buyer, you pay 15% of the order (shops under $10,000 in trailing-year sales — you can opt out) or 12% (over $10,000 — mandatory). It only applies to orders attributed to those ads, but on those orders it's usually your single biggest fee.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes — the 6.5% transaction fee applies to the shipping you charge the buyer, not just the item price. Payment processing (3% + $0.25) also applies to the whole order total. 'Free shipping' just means the fee base moves into your item price.
How do I calculate my actual Etsy profit?
Take-home (order total minus all Etsy fees) minus what the order costs you: materials, packaging, postage you paid, and your labor at a real hourly rate. Most sellers who feel busy-but-broke are missing the labor part — count it.
